Baby toys are just way too expensive. $10 here, $20 there...soon enough you realize your living room is full of a small fortune in brightly colored plastic.
Enter Target, with its glorious dollar section. You can surely find something your child will delight in for just $1. Whenever I go to Target (I've been trying to avoid it lately as I can never get out of there without spending $100+ on things I don't really know if I need), I take my time perusing this hallowed pair of aisles, and all the promise that it brings.
Here are a few of our latest finds:
Bubbles. Unfortunately I couldn't get any pictures of Carina playing with them. She mostly wanted to eat the wand, but did sit transfixed while I blew bubbles into the wind for a good 20 minutes.
Chalk (Easter egg-shaped). Again, we preferred trying to eat the chalk over playing with it, but we did have a lot of fun once we figured out we could color on the driveway.
Weird squishy toy. Carina LOVES this thing. Best $1 investment. Ever.
Share your inexpensive (or free!) toy or activity ideas!
My co-host for Toddle Along Tuesday this week is Carolyn from Making It Work and the topic is cheap ways to entertain your kids! Do you know of any free or inexpensive activities or toys that keep your kid(s) occupied? Share with everyone! There are no rules here, except that you link up a relevant post (old or new) rather than your whole blog.
Next week's topic is things you never thought you'd do. When it comes to pregnancy, parenting, and beyond, what are things that you've done that you never thought you would? Think of your previous "I'll never...{insert anything here}" and have fun with it :)
If you like advance notice for TAT, I just added a section at the bottom right of the blog that lists the Toddle Along Tuesday topics for the next few weeks! Would you like to submit a topic idea and/or volunteer to co-host one week? E-mail me!
