If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's Pinterest's definition of itself:
Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. It allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and share their favorite recipes.
My definition of Pinterest:
An epic, yet moderately useful timesuck.
Bottom line: if you value your free time, don't sign up. Most people I have told about Pinterest have gone from, "eh, I don't really want to try to figure it out" to "ZOMG this is the best thing on the Internet ever!" (yes - I'm looking at you, Mom)
I've been using Pinterest mostly to pin ideas for Carina's 1st birthday party, geeky things I love, and recipes to try. I call it my "productive" obsession because for the last few weeks I've actually chosen 2-3 dinner recipes each week and successfully made them! Seeing as how I am usually quite terrible when it comes to my culinary endeavors, I have been really proud of the fact that they have come out well.
