Since Carina was born, however, I have felt significantly more "out there". Recently I've done the following (please feel free to laugh at me):
-While at work very early in the morning I lifted my shirt and detached the cups of my nursing bra so I could get ready to pump. With boobs hanging out, I took my time hooking up the tubing to the connectors, and the connectors to the bottles only to realize that my office door was wide open. Thank goodness no one was else around...sometimes I still wonder if a janitor got more than he bargained for while walking by.
-When I arrived at work another morning I didn't notice that I had left my bottles at home until it was time to pump. It would have taken at least 45 minutes to drive home and back (and I would have had to pay the Nanny more $). Since I'm
-During my afternoon pump one day I started to feel something wet in my lap. I looked down, and just shook my head as I realized that I had forgotten to hook up the breastshields and connectors to the bottles. The bottles were sitting there on my desk laughing at me as I pumped directly into my lap.
There seems to be a theme here...these episodes + my first pumping experience at work = pumping failure. I fail at pumping.
Please tell me I'm not alone. Share some of your Mommy brain stories.
10 words of geekdom:
So far, the only thing that has happened at work is: one day I was pumping with my office door CLOSED during lunch and umm this guy decided that he should leave a note since he thought I was out to lunch (NO one closes their door at all unless it's a protected meeting)... and he opened the door while I was browsing venues for LOs bday and pumping... UMM Seriously??? It had to be a guy because all the other women would have guessed that I am pumping or in a top secret meeting! He just awkwardly turned away and left. He ended up emailing me his note... which is the norm around here. I always double check to ensure I have my horns and pump because I commute and would have to leave for the day which I guess wouldn't be that bad haha. Sometimes I secretly wish that I forgot something so that I'd have a legit reason to peace out lol.
Oh I DEFINITELY have Mommy Brain! It might even be worse than Pregnant Brain! :o) You're not alone.
haha hmmm I rocked a bunch of bananas in the grocery store when James was about a month old. Like, I rocked them like a baby. I looked like a nut.
One of my friends pumps at work and made a sign for the door that says "Please do not enter, I'm MILKING the clock!" bwahahahahahah
LOL!!! Wow. Um...I once attempted to sew the rip in the crotch of my overly large pants (since I refused to buy more clothes as I was losing weight) from the inside - behind my desk - with students in the room. Oh boy did they have a laugh at that one!
Oh, mommy brain is WAY worse than pregnancy brain. I'll swear I had put something in the diaper bag only to not find it, so I go searching around the house for it. Where was it??? Right NEXT to the diaper bag. I'm talking not even an inche away! If it were a snake, it would have bitten me! Oi! Sometimes I think I'm going crazy!
Hahah! That is just too funny! Mommy brain is terrible. Now I understand all the things MY mom did while growing up because I have having the same issues!
How about the time I thought I was SO smart and turned myself away from the door to pump. The thing is I was in the conference room and was facing straight toward the camera for the video teleconferencing system right as someone was connecting! ha!
I DO NOT miss the hassle of pumping!

Sweet Serendipity
Oh, goodness - I can just imagine the fun I'm going to have with this. I work in a lab and the only offices that are available to use are at the mercy of their occupants. Our manager is quite happy to offer up her office but everyone else on the floor has no respect for closed doors - with or without signs!
We share our campus with another hospital that actually has an L&D ward so I'll be calling them shortly to see if I can use their facilities and not have to pump in my car!!
You are definitely NOT alone. My mind is completely gone these days. I'm told it will be until my daughter is who knows how old.
