...my apartment complex. Since M and I will be moving to Connecticut in the fall, we were planning on extending our lease (that currently ends on 3/30/11) through the end of September. When we told our apartment office that we would like to do that, they told us that they don't allow leases to end in the fall. Ummm...WTF? They gave us two options. We could either extend our lease through April, which doesn't help us at all, or extend through next January and find a subletter. Thanks a lot, apartment office.
Since we can't afford to pay double rent if we aren't able to find a subletter, we are going to have to move out. Yep, that means we'll be moving twice in 6 months...with an infant. Luckily, we found a decent apartment complex in town that will let us do a short term lease, but still, this really sucks. I'm going to have to start packing us up in the near future, which is not going to be easy since Carina doesn't really like to nap anywhere other than on my shoulder.
Ugggh...please wish us luck.

Oh no! Apartment complexes are just terrible.
We moved moved during the 1st year of my daughter's life, then again at 14 months and then again at 24 months. Moving with children is much harder than alone. I had a sling, a carrier and a wrap for our first move and it saved me. Maybe you can try that?
Good luck!!
That just plain sucks! I would try to be as organized as you can while packing, so that you don't have to "unpack" twice. Put all of the stuff that is not a necessity in boxes together and you can put them to the back and not worry about them until the CT move. Sorry that they are being such Aholes.
That's ridiculous! What is their logic behind the no fall moves allowed? I hope your move(s) go very smoothly for you!!!
I totally agree with pigtails! I moved six times in eight years from college until I quit my career and it's amazing how much stayed in boxes that I ultimatly just threw out. It's an opportunity to cut down on clutter.
Thanks for the advice, ladies!
Dayum, can't believe they won't let you out because you're moving in the wrong season.
wtf
Hope it's as smooth a transition as possible for you!
We signed a one year lease and then it goes month to month. We can move out when ever we want to. I've never heard of no being allowed to move out at a specific time of the year.
