First Appointment

M and I met with the OB coordinator today, and she was great. She went through our histories and outlined what the next 8 months would look like in terms of doctor's appointments, tests, ultrasounds, etc.

I have my first ultrasound on Wednesday, June 9th. I will be 9w2d. This is perfect timing; right before we leave for a long weekend in Philly on Friday, June 11th. I have my first OB appointment on Wednesday, June 16th.

They took tons of blood to run all sorts of tests, I've got my fingers crossed that everything will come back normal.

A lovely lunch and 2/3 chance of brown eyes

Today I met up with some lovely Bump ladies right outside of Chicago. We had lunch at Maggiano's and chatted for a while. This will likely be the last get together that I coordinate, but I hope that one of them will continue because they are so much fun and so therapeutic! Mari2003, wi-mommy-hopeful, magnolia_femme, kthappy76, ermaderma, and ishka338 were there. Unfortunately we forgot to take a photo again.

Marissa (wi-mommy-hopeful) was so kind to give me this adorable baby blanket as a little congratulations present. I have it across my lap right now as I type, I love it! Thank you, hun!

I found this fun website yesterday (Eye color calculator) which lets you input the color of your eyes, and your parents', to calculate the probably of each eye color in your babies.

We have a 67% chance of having a baby with brown eyes, 23% chance of green eyes, and 10% change of blue. I encourage you to try this out, it was a lot of fun! I actually had to call my mom to ask what my dad's eye color is LOL. I was a bit embarrassed.

My $2.20 Kohl's Purchase

Using my $30 in Kohl's cash, 30% off coupon, and due to the fact that almost everything for baby was 50% off, here's what I got at Kohl's for a total of $2.20 (including tax):

On the left is a three-piece ducky set.  The pants are complete with ducky feeties, and two little shirts.  Then there is a 2-pack of sleeping gowns, a monkey-hooded towel, and a little yellow sunsuit with cupcakes on it.  So cute.

Kohl's has some of the best sales/specials on baby clothes.  Please, keep me from going there again.  It's dangerous.

I've gone public (again)

My blog has gone public.  Blogger only lets you have a certain number of readers, and unfortunately I've hit that limit.  Now that anyone can read this, I ask for everyone to please respect my privacy.  If you recognize me, send me a private message; don't approach me in person or post on my Facebook that you've read my blog.  Also, please don't steal any of my pictures.  Thanks for reading :)

M and I flew home to Boston last weekend for my niece Riley's baptism.  It was so great to see my family, and to meet my niece for the first time.  Here we are together:

We had beautiful weather for the baptism and party afterwards.  Riley looked lovely in her little white dress:

Here are the proud parents and godparents (from L to R: Jessie, my little sister (the godmother), Amanda (mom), Eric, (dad), and M (the godfather).  He got quite a few Italian godfather jokes.

I can't wait to go back home for my Dad's 60th birthday party in August.  I miss Massachusetts, and the ocean.

"Too cute for words"

When we got home from our trip to Massachusetts there was a little package waiting for me. It's from one of my BFPB's, Heather (charliebrown), and it's an adorable little blankie/stuffed animal for our baby!  It says "too cute for words".

Thank you so much, Heather!

For those who don't know about M's mustache competition for charity, please look at the dirty 'stache pictures.

Yes, Sarah, I'm with you. Here's to hoping that baby G doesn't have a 'stache, especially if it's a girl.

At dinner last night...

...M and I got to talking about what we hope our baby will get from each of us. Keep in my that we will be ecstatic to just have a healthy baby, and we know that it's unlikely that the baby will exhibit all of these qualities. We will love our baby dearly no matter what, but we just thought it was fun to think about the things that we love about each other (and our hope that those things will show up in baby).

I said I hope the baby has his skin tone (he tans, I burn) and clear skin. He hopes the baby has my eye sight. Then we got to talking more and thought of some other things...we hope baby has his straight hair and my metabolism. We both hope he/she has his inclination for music and sense of humor, as well as my organizational skills and empathy.

Since we are both relatively short and don't have perfect teeth (well, I do now, but that took 3+ years of braces), baby probably won't be tall or have a perfect smile (sorry baby!) M and I are both pretty smart, so hopefully the baby will take after us there :)

Whether baby has any of these traits/characteristics really doesn't matter. It's just fun to imagine what half me and half M will make.

A nice surprise

When I got home from work on Tuesday I had a lovely gift waiting for me. One of my Bump friends, Melissa (mellymel12), sent a beautiful bouquet of flowers. I waited until they all opened to post a pic of them here.

Thank you so much, Melissa!

Still pregnant!

I need to stop peeing on things. I've had 6 positive tests so far, including a FRER with a much darker line this morning. I think it's finally sinking in.

While I was praying after Communion this morning, I started getting teary-eyed. This isn't new for me, it has happened multiple times over the last 8 months.

However, this time, it was out of pure happiness!

The most amazing word...

I woke up on Thursday - 10dpo and my temp was still up (which is really unusual for me), so on a whim I decided to test with a internet cheapie. I saw a faint line right away. I started crying when I first saw the second line, woke up Mike and said, "you don't have to get your sperm tested!" He was confused, and then realized what I meant. Definitely not the most romantic or creative way to tell him, it was just the first thing that popped into my head.

I followed it up with a FRER that evening, again, a faint line. Another cheapie yesterday, darker line. I went to the doctor after work and peed again. They called a couple hours later, pregnant! They set up an appointment for me with the OB Coordinator on May 25th. The OB Coordinator will get all of my appointments set up. I'll be almost 8 weeks then...I'm super excited!

I saved the digital for today, 12dpo. "Pregnant" came up in less than a minute. I am still in complete shock. Mike is over the moon.

I am due January 10th. I'm already feeling it, I've been exhausted the last couple days, I feel like a gas factory, and I've had all sorts of twinges, pressure, etc. It just feels 'full' down there. I don't think there's a better way to describe how it feels.

On Monday (at 4 weeks) I'm going to start recording everything on here, but in the mean time I figured I'd take a baseline picture to compare my future belly against. Here it is:

3 weeks, 4 days (day after first BFP)

Thank you for your support ladies! Having this blog (and having you read it, of course) has been so therapeutic for me, and I hope you'll continue to share this journey with me.

I still can't believe we conceived the day after our anniversary...it's likely that sex on the day of our anniversary did the trick!
